In 1984 President Reagan personally received the Makk family at the White House. He held a special reception in the Oval Office for the Makk family, unveiling the portrait of President Reagan by Americo Makk. The United States flag was flown over the White House in the Makks’ honor, and the flag was presented to the Makk family in an official White House ceremony.

Eva Makk was commissioned by the National Kidney Foundation Hawaii to paint Senator Daniel Akaka. Senator Akaka was the first U.S. senator of Hawaiian ancestry. The portrait was unveiled at Senator Akaka's 93rd birthday party. It will hang in the National Kidney Foundation Resource Center in Kapolei. Senator Akaka was a big supporter of the Kidney Foundation.
